A Crystal Calling

Crystals are living things that grow from the earth—just like sprouts grow from the soil. Each one has a use based on its natural chemical components and how it was formed. Modern generations seem to be giving crystals a strong comeback from the ancient times where they were commonly used and known. In this blog, we'll explore why crystals are growing in popularity, the many benefits of crystals and how you can incorporate them into your daily life.

What are Crystals

It’s no secret that the population as a whole is gaining more knowledge and technological advances that are bringing a lot of concerns to the surface. With cancer and obesity at an all time high, many people are questioning the old ways of dieting, medicine and many “standards” of living in western society. We are raising awareness and recognizing that certain products and chemicals are not healthy, or clearly not sustainable for long-term health. Codependency on many pharmaceutical drugs, especially anti-anxiety and antidepressant medications, are at an all-time high and those benefiting most are the big money corporations who lobby for their drug to be on the market.

Switch Up the Status Quo

As environmental communities & activists start to come together, it’s no surprise that alternative medicine, such as holistic medicine and homeopathy are on the rise. Like they say, you can’t know what you don’t know, and you can’t un-know what you already know. So sometimes a little education is all you really need.

Why Crystals Are Inspiring

Crystals are said to each have their own unique energy based on the structure of how the mineral was originally formed in the earth. A crystal is a solid element whose atoms were formed naturally in a repeating pattern. Picture the small crystal points of a geode you probably saw as a child. These patterns are called crystal lattices, and if an object has its atoms arranged in one of seven specific patterns, then that object is officially classified a crystal.

What are Crystals

There are seven crystal lattice patterns (cubic, tetragonal, rhombohedral (trigonal), hexagonal, orthorhombic, monoclinic, and triclinic), and each of the stated crystal structures, down to their atomic level, has its own type of earth energy.

Crystal earth energies include:

  • Seeker: energy to point the way to a goal
  • Enhancer: energy to build and enhance
  • Guardian: energy to protect spiritually and physically
  • Barrier: provides strength in all directions
  • Dispeller: expels unwanted elements
  • Attractor: draws the eye and attract energy

Crystals are conductors of energy - both as a receiver and a transmitter. For example, a majority of watches on the market are made with Quartz crystals. If you look down at your watch and you see “Quartz” written finely on the face and you never knew what it meant, it means that it is powered by a crystal. Quartz, made up of silica and oxygen, is one of the most common minerals found on Earth. Some materials, such as ceramics and quartz crystals, can produce electricity when placed under mechanical stress. Quartz crystals are also able to maintain a precise frequency standard, which helps to regulate the movement, making the timepieces very accurate. It is crazy to think the beautiful crystal on your nightstand is also the same mineral used in electronics! These days, most of the quartz used in electronics is synthetically made so that it has a specific frequency based on its use.

Choosing Your Crystals

Choose crystals that seem to speak to you or that you feel attracted to for best results. When we first started, some of the crystals that we felt drawn to we had no idea the name of, or what it even stood for, what type of energy it had or why we even felt attracted to it. When we started to look up the meanings after purchasing, we were so surprised at how well that crystal meaning really interplayed into our lives and the areas of improvement we needed at that point in time.

Choosing Your Crystal

I remember being super attracted to a “Moonstone” crystal bracelet during a very hard transitional time in my life—I was going through a bad break up. After spending some time researching the significance of a moon stone crystal, I learned that it is considered a stone of New Beginnings and is strongly connected to the moon and intuition. Like the moon, the stone is reflective and reminds us that as the moon waxes and wanes, everything is part of a cycle of change. This really resonated with me and made the bracelet I purchased that much more special. I walked around wearing it as a badge of armor and symbol to myself that I was indeed, ready for a new beginning. Ready to accept any new changes into my life, and ready to give up any old habits that were no longer serving my highest good.

Bathing in Crystals

Baths are also a great way to benefit from crystal energy. At Chasin’ Unicorns, we have taken this into consideration by offering our incredible customers bath bombs with crystals in the middle. They say that although you do not get to choose what crystal you get, the right crystal will choose you.

Many people have written that bathing with rose quartz, clear quartz points or other crystals can enhance the bathing experience significantly. Combining bath water with crystals can amplify the unique property of each crystal.

Bathing with Crystals

Consider putting a piece of Amethyst in the water to help you find calm and center your thoughts because of Amethysts’ atomic energy lattice as an "Enhancer.” The Stone is a meditative and calming stone which works in the emotional, spiritual, and physical planes to promote calm, balance, and peace. The water also clears and vitalizes the crystals as well.

“I’ve bathed with crystals and rocks quite often. I discovered the benefits when we lost the stopper for the Tub at our old house and used a big ordinary old rock to hold a rubber flat stopper down and noticed that the baths became much more refreshing. After we got a plug and removed the rock, I noticed a decrease in the vitalizing quality of the baths, We started bathing with rocks again because it did make a difference.”
