Lemon water is a highly beneficial part of your health and beauty regime, especially when taken first thing in the morning. It can be served hot or cold and is so easy to incorporate into your routine there is no excuse not to do it.

Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is essential for fighting colds. The recommended daily amount of vitamin C is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, One lemon gives 30.7 mg vitamin C. Lemons are also high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function and helps control blood pressure.

Drinking lemon water daily decreases your body's acidity. This may be counter intuitive because lemons are seen as an acidic fruit, but once metabolized, lemons are one of the most alkaline foods available.

Lemon water aids in weight loss because lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings.
