9 Reasons To Attend A Yoga Retreat

In honor of National Yoga Month, it's time to treat yourself! If you have ever considered attending a yoga retreat it's time to stop considering and just do it. Here are 9 reasons why DYLN Inspired encourages you to attend a yoga retreat, enliven the body, and experience the energy of nature.

1. Take your yoga to the next level

Practicing yoga regularly can be challenging if you have a busy schedule. And even if you do have time to attend regular classes you can only dive so deep into your practice in a normal 60-90 minute class. Attending a yoga retreat gives you time to explore complex topics like philosophy, ayurveda, anatomy, or meditation.

2. Spend time with like-minded people

Although yoga is a large part of the health and wellness world, it is still relatively new to mainstream fitness. Some people look at me like I'm crazy when I rave about the benefits of my daily yoga practice. Imagine being surrounded by a group of people that share in your same values, beliefs, and thoughts. Could it get much better than that?

3. Be a student

If you are a yoga instructor, chances are you may find it hard to step out of teacher mode while attending other classes. You are constantly thinking how you could incorporate something into your own class and how your students could benefit. Of course attending a retreat will improve your teaching, but not because you are mentally writing lesson plans during practice, but because you can take this time to devote to once again being the student.

4. You will relax and de-stress

As much as I like to think that I can relax and de-stress with a short stay-cation of some sort, the truth is I never fully relax until I am away from my home. Being on a retreat allows you to listen to your body, rest when needed, and be free from stress, all the while staying engaged with your yogi mindset.

5. Nutritious meals with no hassle

Even as someone who loves to cook, I will admit sometimes a break from the kitchen is much needed. If your retreat is all inclusive, you get healthy and delicious meals everyday without the needing to lift a finger. Eating nutritious, balanced meals has never been easier.

6. Get a digital detox

In a society so reliant on social media and technology finding time to unplug can be difficult. While most retreats will have cell service and internet access, there is no need to be constantly plugged in. Resisting the urge to Instagram that picture of your vegan salad, or of your natarajasana in front of the sunset may be the best thing thats ever happened to you. Trust me: you won't miss anything important on Facebook either.

7. Replace bad habits

The easiest way to replace bad habits is with good ones. By breaking your normal life routine for a few days you have time to replace habits that do not serve you with conscious new behaviors that support you being your best self.

8. You will appreciate home a little more

While some much deserved time off in paradise is always nice, we often come home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, with a new appreciation for our everyday lives. You will be ready to jump back into your routine and you may even find yourself excited!

9. You deserve it

This is self-explanatory. It's National Yoga Month and you simply deserve to go on a yoga retreat.
